It is our mission to make metabolomics accessible to facilitate breakthroughs in biomedical research. With our pioneering phenotyping products and services, we help scientists and researchers gather new insights about disease prevention and personalized health.
It is our vision that everyone can become aware of the connections between health and lifestyle to better understand what makes a life well-lived. It is our conviction that metabolic phenotyping is key to preventing disease, maintaining well-being and improving the quality of life.
With a pioneering spirit and game-changing thinking, biocrates delivers excellent solutions and paves the way for individual health and well-being.
A new approach to metabolomic phenotyping
Metabolomic phenotyping has the power to transform our understanding of health and disease. Just a few microliters of sample material can tell us how a person’s genetics, behavior and environment work together to influence their health. Having the knowledge of what takes place at the cellular level, allows us to improve the overall individual wellbeing.
With decades of experience across multiple disciplines, biocrates makes standardized metabolomics accessible and quantifiable. Our phenotyping kits and services support scientists around the world to make new discoveries in research, nutrition and personalized health.

Therese charts the course of biocrates’ scientific, technological and research operations, so we’re always on the cutting edge of metabolomic research.
She has a proven track record in transforming the science of metabolomics into practice.
With twenty years’ experience and multiple patents to her name (including metabolic phenotyping kits), Therese oversees the development of new metabolomics applications that unlock exciting discoveries for our customers.
Therese has a PhD in Analytical Chemistry. She completed post-graduate training in toxicology at the University of Leipzig, with post-doctoral training in pharmacology and therapeutic drug monitoring at Hannover Medical School. She joined biocrates in 2006.
Dr. Matthias Scheffler
Chief Business Officer
Matthias leads our global sales organization, building and fostering connections throughout the global scientific community to apply metabolomics to real-world problems. He encourages knowledge-sharing across international research cohorts, so metabolomics can grow to its true potential.
Matthias has extensive experience both in the lab and in leading multi-disciplinary teams of scientists, developers and engineers. He has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bochum and joined biocrates in 2015.
Fadi Abdi, PhD
Head of North American Operations
Fadi is responsible for biocrates’ North American operations. With a strong focus on sales, marketing and support, Fadi is growing our footprint in the biomedical science community in North America. He connects the dots between metabolomic research and our customers’ challenges, with the ultimate goal of improving human health.
He has more than twenty years’ experience in the application of mass spectrometry to genomics, proteomics and metabolomics, gained in tier one businesses, including Sciex (a Danaher Company).
Fadi joined biocrates in 2018. He has a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Houston and has completed two postdoctoral fellowships at Harvard Medical School and Los Alamos National Laboratory.
