Highlight at ICBL 2025

Get to know our latest lipidomics kit – LxQuant

We are excited to present our latest lipid product, the LxQuant kit. The LxQuant kit delivers extensive lipid coverage for rapid discoveries with quantitative lipidomics profiling. Powered by biocrates’ standardized, quality-controlled, and reproducible metabolomics technology, this ready-to-use kit covers 906 lipids from 25 biochemical classes. With up to 1,231 lipid-based biomarkers, researchers are equipped with the right solution to capture a comprehensive picture of membrane, storage and circulating lipids.

If you’d like to learn more, we invite you to connect with Alice Limonciel, Gordian Adam, Franziska Hörburger or Rebecca Myers at the conference or connect with one of our specialists—we’re happy to answer your questions and explore how this innovation can support your research goals.

Workshop

Lipidomic data interpretation for 5P medicine

Join us as Alice Limonciel discusses lipidomics in the context of 5P medicine.

Date | September 21

Time | 14:45 – 15:05 pm

Title | Lipidomic data interpretation for 5P medicine

Speaker | Alice Limonciel, Ph.D.

Description

5P medicine addresses the limits of traditional Western medicine by integrating omics technologies into a proactive, patient-centered approach. It builds on five components – preventive, predictive, precision, population-based, and participatory medicine. While genomics shows predisposition or drug response, it misses environmental and lifestyle influences. Lipidomics helps bridge this gap by reflecting the organism’s functional biochemical state.

Preventive applications include nutritional and microbiome interventions and early risk detection for chronic disease. Lipids serve as biomarkers for aging and age-related diseases such as atherosclerosis, and are shaped by the microbiome. Predictive uses range from forecasting therapy response (e.g., lysophospholipids in CAR-T therapy) to identifying Alzheimer’s disease progression. Precision medicine benefits from lipid-based stratification for cardiovascular risk and tailored dietary interventions. Population-level studies and participatory approaches further expand lipidomics’ role in risk scoring, early detection, and personalized health strategies.

In this workshop, Alice Limonciel will present examples of how lipids are already advancing modern medicine and where the field is heading.

High analytical precision is achieved from minimal sample volume, delivering deep biological insights for fundamental, pharmaceutical and clinical research. MxP® Quant 1000 empowers scientists to reveal chronic disease mechanisms and detect phenotypic changes, contributing to the development of innovative therapeutic solutions that will lead the transformation of medicine.

LxQuant

Discover the crucial role of lipids in chronic disease

The LxQuant kit delivers extensive lipid coverage for rapid discoveries with quantitative lipidomics profiling. Powered by biocrates’ standardized, quality-controlled, and reproducible metabolomics technology, this ready-to-use kit covers 906  lipids from 25 biochemical classes. With up to 1,231 lipid-based biomarkers, researchers will be equipped with the right solution to capture a comprehensive picture of membrane, storage and circulating lipids.

MetaboINDICATOR

biocrates’ MetaboINDICATOR is a software tool that calculates metabolism indicators to extract biological significance from targeted metabolomic and lipidomic datasets. The tool offers now more than 400 predefined metabolite sums and ratios, which can improve statistical power and provide links to biochemical pathways.

QMDB

Advanced metabolomics research

The QMDB combines sample metadata with quantitative reference ranges based on standardized biocrates technology. It provides insights into the metabolomic differences among ethnicities, sex, and lifestyles. Whether saving valuable resources by reducing the need for additional control samples, or confirming metabolomics hypotheses, the QMDB resolves questions about normal metabolite ranges and advances metabolomics research.
