At-home sampling

Quantitative metabolomics using Mitra® tips

At-home sampling devices offer many advantages for metabolomic studies, but the stability of metabolites must be carefully considered. Dried blood samples are particularly popular solutions for at-home sampling due to their ease of collection, storage, and transport.

In its latest application note biocrates investigates the stability of metabolites collected with several at-home sampling technologies. Using the MxP® Quant 500 kit, the study analyzed metabolites in blood samples collected on dried blood spots (DBS) and Mitra® tips. The stability of up to 630 metabolites was tested over time and under different storage conditions.

The results demonstrate that the MxP® Quant 500 kit is an effective tool for assessing metabolite stability in dried blood samples and that proper storage and handling are essential to ensure accurate results.
