Targeted metabolomics - tailored biomarkers for health
In focusing on the search for metabolomic biomarkers, Biocrates has dedicated its activities to the youngest addition to what may be referred to as the ‘omics’ quartet of systems biology, i.e., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. Systems biology is the computational integration of data from across different biomolecular levels, from gene to transcript to protein to metabolite. By linking these data, systems biology provides a more complete picture of disease mechanisms. Also, it will allow highly sensitive biomarkers of drug efficacy and toxicity to be identified.
